What are content management systems? What is WordPress?

A common software tool I’ve always heard about but have never looked into are content management systems (CMS). I would always hear the acronym “C-M-S” in conversation, often followed by “like WordPress”. So to me a CMS was like a blogging app. If you are using a CMS for a blog, the simplification is decent, but CMS are not just for blogs. Content management systems allow users to create, manage, and publish their digital content. Digital content encompass more than blog posts. Photos, videos, audio, webpages, product listings, etc… I have had little exposure using CMS applications even though I’ve worked as a web developer profesionally the last 5 years. I figured it was about time I spend some time looking into CMS applications and I figured a good place to start is with the world’s most popular CMS, WordPress.

My First Blog

What a year it has been. I got married, I bought a home, and I am now a father. With these big life events came a new set of obligations that has left me with limited time for myself. I still have a strong desire to pursure my personal ambition curiosity but with my new set of responsibilities, I can no longer operate as I once did if I wish to continue that pursuit it has becomes increasingly difficult to stay focused on that pursuit in a timely manner. I have to be more calculated in my approach and even more disciplined with my time if I wish to keep seeking my aspirations. This blog I hope can be a pillar that I can come back to and build off from when I am able to find the time to explore that curiousity.
